An Ann Arbor Electrician With 397 Google Reviews Gets a Website That Matches

Current Electrical Systems has wired Ann Arbor homes since 1994. Their website had four pages and was quietly losing every ranking earlier sites had earned. We rebuilt it from the ground up.

Current Electrical Systems homepage: Ann Arbor electrician for every room of the house, with a contact form and 4.7-star Google rating
Where they were

Thirty Years of Reputation, Four Pages of Website

Current Electrical Systems is a union electrical contractor (IBEW Local 252) that has served Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County since 1994. Their electricians came up doing commercial work for companies like Google, Amazon and Toyota Research, and now they focus on homes: knob and tube rewiring, 200 amp upgrades, EV chargers and generators.

Homeowners love them. They have 397 Google reviews and a 4.7 rating. Their website told a different story. It was a four-page GoDaddy site with stock photos and one general services page, so there was nothing for someone searching "knob and tube replacement" or "Ypsilanti electrician" to land on.

The bigger problem was hidden. The company had been through four earlier websites, and Google still ranked many of their old pages. On the GoDaddy site every one of those addresses showed a "Page Not Found" message, and the www version of the domain didn't load at all. Rankings earned over a decade were leaking away.

What we built

A Website Built Around the Work Tim Wants More Of

We started with a question for owner Tim Lambert: which jobs matter most to the business? His answer set the order of the whole site, from the menu to the homepage.

A Page for Every Service

The old site had one services page. The new one has 23, grouped the way homeowners think about their house, with knob and tube rewiring first because it's what Current does best. Each page explains the job in plain language and has its own contact form:

The Knob and Tube Replacement page. The form already knows which service the visitor is reading about.

Town Pages Written for Each Town

Ypsilanti, Saline, Dexter, Brighton, Plymouth, Canton and Northville each have their own page. They talk about the housing people actually live in there, like older homes near Depot Town with two-prong outlets, instead of swapping a city name into the same paragraph.

Clear Pricing and a Form That Takes Photos

A new Pricing page explains how Current bills: time and material, with no scheduling fee. The contact form asks whether it's a service call or a project and lets homeowners attach up to 10 photos of their panel or wiring, so the electrician arrives prepared. Every request is tracked back to the page and search that brought it in.

Real Google Reviews That Stay Current

The 4.7 rating and 397 reviews sit under the headline on every page. Recent reviews are pulled from Google each time the site is built, so the Reviews page never goes stale.

Every Old Link Rescued

We rebuilt the history of the domain from the Wayback Machine and found 119 addresses from four earlier websites, going back to 2011. Every one now redirects to its closest new page, and the www address points to the new site. Old rankings, old links and old bookmarks all land somewhere useful again.

Accessible to Every Homeowner

An electrician's website has to work for every homeowner who needs one. The site was built and tested to WCAG 2.2 AA, with large text, strong contrast, big tap targets and a form that works with a keyboard or screen reader.

The launch

Fast and Light on a Phone From Day One

We ran Google's Lighthouse audit on the new homepage on a simulated phone the day it launched. The old GoDaddy site went offline at cutover, so these numbers are the new site on its own.

How the site is built

How the site is built

Current Electrical Systems spent 30 years earning the trust of Ann Arbor homeowners. The old website never showed it.

Now every service they offer has its own page, its own form and nearly 400 reviews behind it.
