Law Firm Web Design

Law firm web design with a caseload of proof.

Legal is the vertical we’ve built in longest: the sites on this page span a solo attorney we still rank today, a firm we served for a decade, and the years Michael spent at FindLaw, the largest legal directory on the web. Every screenshot is our work.

Law Firm Websites We’ve Designed, Built, and Ranked

Most agencies pitching lawyers show one legal site if you’re lucky. Here are five of ours, spanning traffic law, personal injury, family law, and criminal defense:

David A.C. Long

A Virginia traffic and criminal defense attorney whose site we designed and still run. The design carries the caseload: practice-area pages that rank, credibility that converts after-hours searches, and intake paths that turn panic into consultations:

What $27,000 a Month of Free Traffic Looks Like

Semrush prices every site’s organic traffic by what those same visitors would cost as Google Ads clicks. David’s current traffic prices out at north of $27,000 every single month: that’s what a firm would have to spend on ads to buy the visitors his rankings bring in free. At his January 2025 peak, the same math read $58,000 a month.

Legal clicks are among the priciest on Google, which is exactly why a ranking law-firm website is such an absurdly good asset: it earns ad-budget money around the clock without spending it.

The Semrush curve: 550 monthly visits in April 2024 to thousands today, with 24 months of tracking behind it.

What a law firm website needs

The Anatomy of a Law Firm Website That Wins Clients

A potential client landing on a law firm site is stressed, comparing several firms, and deciding fast whether you look like the one who wins. The design’s job is to settle that question:

  • Attorney bios that carry weight. Bar admissions, courtroom history, real photographs. The bio page is usually the second-most-visited page on a firm site, and most firms treat it as an afterthought.
  • A page per practice area, because “reckless driving attorney” and “DUI lawyer” are different searches from different people, and Google ranks pages, not firms.
  • Credibility without bragging. Reviews, results framed within your bar’s advertising rules, and professional design that says established firm before a word is read.
  • Intake built for after-hours panic. Many legal searches happen the night of the arrest or the accident. Short forms, click-to-call, and a clear what-happens-next reassure at 11 PM.
  • Content a nervous client can actually read. Plain-language answers to the questions people search before they hire, the layer that feeds both rankings and trust.

A CCRS Law practice-area page: one page, one search intent, one clear path to the consultation. The firm ran on this architecture for a decade.

Hand-coded law firm web design

A Hand-Coded Law Firm Website, Not a WordPress Theme

Most law firm sites are WordPress themes sold by legal-marketing vendors: the same layout, the same stock gavel, hundreds of firms deep. Themes aren’t evil, but your firm shouldn’t look like a subscription. We write the code ourselves:

  • Sub-second loads, because the person comparing three firms doesn’t wait for the slow one.
  • A design that’s actually yours, built around your firm’s name, colors, and market, not a theme your competitor can also buy.
  • Attorney and LegalService schema throughout, so Google and AI assistants can verify who you are, where you practice, and what you handle.
  • You own everything, unlike the legal-marketing vendors that hold sites hostage when firms try to leave. We’ve rebuilt for firms escaping exactly that.
