The Challenge
Tans Auto Detailing was a brand-new mobile detailing business in Vancouver, WA starting from zero. No website, no online presence, no reviews, no search rankings. The owner knew his work was excellent but needed a way to get in front of people who were already searching for detailing services in the area.
The Vancouver/Portland metro area has plenty of auto detailers, many of them with established websites and years of reviews on Google. Competing against that as a startup is tough. Without a website, he was relying entirely on word of mouth and social media, which is fine for getting started but doesn't scale. Most people who need ceramic coating, paint correction, or interior detailing go straight to Google. If you're not there, you don't exist.
He also needed a site that did justice to his work. Auto detailing is visual. Customers want to see before-and-afters, understand what's included in each service tier, and feel confident that they're hiring someone who takes the craft seriously. A basic template site wasn't going to cut it.
Our Solution
We took a two-phase approach: first build the online foundation, then drive traffic to it with ongoing local SEO.
Professional, Mobile-First Website
I designed and built a custom WordPress website that puts his work front and center. For a mobile detailing business, the website itself needs to be mobile-first since most people are going to find it on their phone. The layout is built around photo galleries showcasing his actual work: ceramic coatings catching the light, interior details that look brand new, paint corrections that removed years of swirl marks.
Each service gets its own dedicated page with clear descriptions of what's included, how long it takes, and what customers can expect. The contact flow is simple: see the work, read about the service, request a quote. No friction, no unnecessary steps. We also set up the site structure with SEO in mind from day one, with proper heading hierarchy, schema markup for local business, and optimized page speeds.
Monthly Local SEO Program
We built a monthly local SEO program targeting the full spectrum of his services: ceramic coating, paint correction, exterior detail, interior detail, and full detail packages, all tied to Vancouver, WA and the surrounding Portland metro area. For each service, we identified the exact keywords people use when they're ready to book, not just browsing.
We set up and optimized his Google Business Profile with accurate service categories, service area definitions, and professional photos. Then we built local citations across automotive and business directories to establish consistent NAP data. We also implemented a review generation strategy to help build up the social proof that's so important for a new business. On the content side, we published service-specific content targeting keywords like "ceramic coating Vancouver WA" and "auto detailing near me" to build the topical authority Google needs to rank a new domain.
