Engaged from March 2018 to January 2021 to consult with iovation's internal marketing team on organic traffic growth. The site started flat and brand-dependent. The engagement ended at all-time-peak keyword count, traffic, and traffic value.

The Challenge

iovation is a device-intelligence and fraud-prevention SaaS: the kind of product that enterprise security teams at fintech, gaming, and e-commerce companies rely on to detect bots, account takeovers, and fraudulent transactions. The brand was well-known in its niche, but the website was barely participating in the search visibility a category leader should have.

Pre-engagement, organic search traffic had been flat for over a year. iovation was ranking for around 1,784 keywords (most of them branded queries) and pulling in roughly 1,897 monthly visitors at $5,472/month in equivalent traffic value. For a B2B SaaS in a category where buyers research extensively before requesting a demo, that's a meaningful lost-opportunity gap.

Their internal marketing team had ambitious organic growth targets and the budget to execute, but needed an outside SEO consultant to identify what was holding the site back, set strategic direction for content and technical priorities, and partner with the in-house team on month-over-month execution.

The Engagement

35 months as an embedded SEO consultant working alongside iovation's internal marketing team. The work covered three pillars: technical SEO foundations, content strategy aligned to buyer intent, and ongoing reporting that tied SEO output to business outcomes.

Technical SEO Foundation

We started with a comprehensive technical audit covering site architecture, crawl efficiency, internal linking, page-level on-page optimization, schema markup, and the indexation status of every meaningful URL. From there, we worked with iovation's web team to systematically clear out the technical debt that was suppressing crawl and indexation: duplicate-content issues, mis-canonicalized URLs, broken internal links, and pages that should have been ranking but had simple, fixable on-page problems.

In an enterprise-CMS environment, technical SEO isn't a one-time project; it's a discipline. We built a recurring monthly review process so issues caught regression before they impacted rankings, and we trained the in-house team to spot the warning signs themselves.

Buyer-Intent Content Strategy

The internal team had been publishing content, but a lot of it was top-of-funnel awareness pieces that ranked thin and converted thinner. We re-mapped the content strategy around the actual searches enterprise security buyers make: device fingerprinting, account takeover prevention, bot detection, fraud-pattern analysis, and the specific industry verticals iovation served.

That meant building out genuine pillar content for the high-volume head terms, supporting it with deeply technical mid-funnel articles, and connecting both to product pages with proper internal linking. We also identified and rewrote underperforming legacy pages where the topic was right but the execution wasn't.

Reporting Tied to Business Outcomes

In an enterprise B2B SaaS, "more keywords" isn't the goal. Qualified pipeline is. We built monthly reporting that connected organic search performance to MQLs, demo requests, and sales-accepted opportunities, so the marketing team could defend SEO investment internally and make decisions about where to allocate the next dollar. That was as important as anything we did to the rankings themselves.

The Results ยท 35-month engagement

From a flat baseline to $42K/month in organic value.

Over 35 months, iovation's organic footprint grew from 1,784 keywords and 1,897 monthly visitors to a peak of 4,951 keywords and 6,448 monthly visitors. The engagement ended just one month after that all-time peak, in January 2021.

The iovation engagement is the kind of work that doesn't happen in a quarter. 35 months of iterating on technical SEO, content strategy, and reporting alongside an in-house team, building authority for an enterprise brand in a category where buyers don't impulse-purchase. They research for weeks before requesting a demo.

The cumulative result: $512K+ in organic traffic value generated during the engagement, with the engagement ending at the all-time peak across every metric Semrush tracks. That's what compounding SEO discipline produces in B2B SaaS.
