Affordable Mental Health Care, Searchable by What You Can Pay

For many people the hard part of getting therapy is not deciding to go. It is finding someone they can afford. We built Anxiety.help around SAMHSA's FindTreatment.gov directory so a reader can search 12,467 mental health facilities by ZIP code and filter for a sliding fee, Medicaid, telehealth, or care for a child. The site is an independent guide, not a provider or crisis service, and 988 sits at the top of every page.

The Problem

Cost Is Usually What Stops the Search

Most therapist directories are built around profiles that providers pay to promote, and price is the last thing they show. This site turns that around. It starts from SAMHSA's federal listing data and leads with payment: sliding fee, Medicaid, Medicare, TRICARE and publicly funded care, along with telehealth and programs for children and teens. Listings carry only what the facility reported to SAMHSA, with no ratings or outcome claims added.

SAMHSA lists some facilities once per program, so listings that share a name, street address and ZIP code are combined, turning 13,397 records into 12,467 facilities with every service kept. Conditions and therapies are explained from NIMH, Medicare from CMS, and anxiety medicines from their FDA labels. State pages draw on each state's mental health agency, Medicaid agency and licensing boards.

The Research Tools

Find a Clinic, Then Know What Kind of Therapy to Ask For

A ZIP code search gets a reader a list of clinics. Knowing which therapy fits anxiety, who provides it and how to pay is what turns that list into a first appointment. The finder and the anxiety therapy guide cover both.

Care Finder

Search Every Listed Clinic by Cost, Care Type and Need

Enter a ZIP code or city, or use the device's location, and the finder lists the nearest facilities by straight-line distance. Filters narrow by cost and payment, type of care, therapy approach and who a program serves. The search runs in the browser, so nothing the reader enters is sent anywhere. A listing is not an endorsement, and no facility pays to appear.

Search for affordable care
The finder states what is in the data before the reader types anything.

Anxiety Therapy Guide

The Therapies NIMH Describes, and How to Get One at Low Cost

The guide explains the anxiety disorders NIMH lists and the therapies it describes for them, from CBT, which NIMH calls the "gold standard", to exposure therapy and ACT. It covers who provides therapy, a six-step order for finding a therapist that starts with what the reader can pay, NIMH's questions for a first call, and a state table of the 11,636 SAMHSA-listed facilities that offer CBT.

The guide pairs NIMH's view of therapy with what's available and affordable.

Who Uses the Research

Sources, Resources, and Their Readers

Link earning starts with the person who would need the resource. The architecture makes that path explicit instead of publishing content first and hunting for a reason to promote it later.
